Imperial fists still going..

2 weeks and 2 updates I'm on a roll... ;)

Still going on the imperial fists and have the first squad nearly done. Im not happy with the sergeant on a couple of bits and need to do squad markings plus basing... but I have 10 done and a rhino halfway.
I have gone with a multimelta and a meltgun for this first squad and the rhino has a waving rhino rider.

Pics below and I'm off to start mixing up my basing blend of sand/slate/heavy duty pva and water. Planning on basing the squad plus a horde of zombies today and maybe a bit of painting this evening.

Rogue Trader Marines - Imperial Fists Test

Okay okay okay I know I promised Squats up next but I got distracted..

I need to get my rogue trader marine army painted for august this year and I was going to be doing Star Scorpions.
Unfortunately they were taking me ages to paint and I got a total of 1 finished and 4 half done before I lost my painting mojo..

Then they sat on the desk taunting me over Christmas....
Last week I decided to do something about it and find a new faster chapter to do. So after much scouring of internet pics I decided on Imperial fists. nice and simple just iyaden darksun with a ogryn flesh wash followed by a highlight of iyaden darksun again then a little bleached bone added into the mix.

Anyway a wip test of the first 4 minis. No squad or chapter marking yet. I need to decide on a nice quick way to do them still.

not much red on them as no chest eagles on the old minis. I have also decided on 2nd company for them as no shoulder pad rims either so the yellow fits in. Another 6 are started to finish up the squad
then I am considering doing a rhino for them too.

and yes those are confrontation tech gangers and the Christmas marines in the background.. More failed Christmas painting attempts......

Star Scorpions Close Ups

Okay a few close ups for those squinting at the pic..

The eagle eyed amongst you will spot a painted test mini hidden in amongst 1 of the devastator squads. I forgot to photo him separately while the sun was out so I do not have a good pic of him yet
Hopefully will do this next weekend with an update.
A lot are in an old colour scheme which I was never happy with. I should be able to repaint some of these and will just strip the rest.

Star Scorpions - Rogue Trader Space Marine Army WIP

Okay onto my marines then..
Firstly the minis.. This army contains a complete set of rogue trader marines. At least 1 of each variant with some doubles to make up numbers and turn it into an army.
As an army I am looking for a few more bits but as a collection it is done.
I also managed to get my paws on the unreleased chapter standard and the Colin Dixon prototype for the collection..

As an army there are a few bits I am after.
4x Bullock Jet Cycles
1 second version of the bikes (the winged version)
3 terminators with thunder hammer storm shield and the close combat body
1 turbofan jumpack
2 cloaked backpacks

Painting....

Okay the colour scheme will be Star Scorpions. These are essentially the same as the Mentor Legion as the Mentor Legion was given the Star Scorpions colours and chapter number of 888 after the Star Scorpions were declared dead because they could not create more marines due to bad genenseed. Now the back story win WD98 does not say they all died just that the remaining chapter members were declared dead.. Kind of like a MIA chapter really so I am looking at this being there last Hurrah taking it to the Xeno up close.
Now I chose Star Scorpions over Mentors because strictly speaking the Mentor Legion will only ever field 1 or 2 units alongside another force as an Elite Cadre. So seeing as I wanted a chapter in the same colour scheme but wanted to keep the fluff intact I went with the Star Scorpions.
This way I get to keep in line with background story and get to paint the army I like.

Rogue Trader Hardback Limited Edition

Okay I know a lot of you will be saying but the hardback copy was not limited edition just the earlier version out of the hardback and softback.

Well this one is.... Back when it was released a few copies were given out to those who helped make the game.
This one belonged to Graeme Davis before he donated it to a gaming group in Bristol many years ago. Even with living at a gaming group it managed to survive really well and still has all the pages intact with very minor wear and tear.
I found it on a commonly used auction site (yes that one). Going for a steal...

Anyway now it is safe with my rogue trader collection..

Genestealer Cult Testers

Okay a few test minis for my future Hybrid army today.. The Patriarch was actually painted a while back and traded away but I got it back on Thursday and he fits in perfect with the army so far.

Next post will be some more fantasy. On the Oldhammer forum I have joined up with a painting league/no prize com to help lazy people like myself get stuff done :)
It is a unit a month or upto 30 minis. So today I am prepping, assembling and basing the unit and I should  start painting them tomorrow.
I am also planning on doing a few random bits here and there for fresh pics here on the blog but I do not want to spoil my entry by posting it here just yet ;)

Anyway Hybrid Goodness for you.. I will be using Catachans for the brood brothers. The muscles are the result of alien dna.. Its the only logical explanation as to why a Marine chapter has not jumped onto the planet to use there obvious strength trait to create a superior marine chapter........

New Lead Again

Had a few more parcels turn up these last couple of weeks with some new toys inside :)
The postman must be getting sick of weighty parcels always coming here...

Finally got a start to the Sven scenario minis with 4 Norse, 5 Slann and a Slave. Some preslotta dwarves in there including the mail order special. A skeleton standard again preslotta. 2 new preslotta zombies 1 of which is the zombie corpse or as my friend put it a zombie laying in wait for a nearby snack human to arrive. Plus a few other goodies as you can see.
There is a few I am not sure on what they are but I like them all so I am happy..

Little Distractions... Squats are here.

Okay painting skele's all week every week is a hard task for me as I have a lot of minis and I always seem to have a new flavour of the week.
Earlier this week I decided to sort my Squat army out and start assembling and putting them up on one of the display units.
Before I new what was going on I had primed and painted a test mini. This has lead to a unit... nothing special as they are just rank and file.
